Smiths Detection Merges their New Jersey Offices

By Meredith Gordon, MORRISTOWN -- Currently operating out of Pine Brook and Warren, New Jersey, Smiths Detection provides government regulated technology products to security experts and governments in order to detect and identify hazardous material and other dangerous or illegal objects. Their equipment is used throughout major US and International airports. Their most recent development is the “body scan” x-ray machine that will soon be used in airports nationwide. Their trace chemical labs test components of their chemical detection equipment and their technical labs repair the equipment.

In May 2010 Smiths will consolidate their Pine Brook and Warren offices and relocate to a 75,000 SF single tenant office and lab space located in Morris Township, New Jersey. Smiths worked with CBRE to find a location that could accommodate their needs. The lease negotiations resulted in a turn-key lease agreement, where the landlord is responsible for the construction of the space prior to tenant occupancy.

As the Tenant Representative for Smiths Detection, The Walsh Company will coordinate the sub-contractors along with the landlord and assist in furniture specifications, selection, and purchase, as well as coordinate the multi-phase relocation. Smith's new corporate office will feature a chemical test lab, service labs, and a large training center that will serve to train security personnel on the use of their machines.
